PROJECT MANAGER / CIVIL ENGINEER

AWC is looking for an experienced Project Manager/ Civil Engineer for all facets of site project management. The position will be based in Hobart.

This role is to ensure the successful delivery of multiple projects, from small to large, within required constraints for time, cost, quality, safety and the environment. It involves technical planning, support and reporting for all aspects of the execution of the project work while providing direction to the onsite project team of Site Administrators, Site Engineers, Supervisors and Foremen. It also involves estimating and tendering.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • minimum five years’ experience in the civil industry with experience in civil construction operations and management systems;
  • excellent organisational and time-management skills;
  • strong leadership and interpersonal abilities;
  • exceptional communication and negotiation skills;
  • problem-solving aptitude with an initiative-taking attitude;
  • ability to work well under pressure and adapt to priorities;
  • attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results;
  • experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal);
  • the desire to work in a strong team environment, building on our solid foundations.

PROJECT ENGINEER

AWC has a position available for a Project Engineer to join our  team based in the Hobart area.

This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual, seeking to expand or commence their career in civil engineering, assisting the broader team and undertaking project and construction management tasks. The position includes being mentored and tasked with technical and project roles,

The primary responsibilities of this role include assisting the team with project management and contract administration, technical aspects of projects, construction cost estimations, schedule preparation, site- based inspection and subcontractor management. It also involves working with the project-management team in developing internal standards and with AWC's quality-management system. The role may also include leading small to medium projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, or will be graduating this year;
  • two to three years’ prior work experience in civil engineering;
  • experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook essential);
  • excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal);
  • excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results;
  • strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • the desire to work in a strong team environment, building on our solid foundations.

FINAL TRIM EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

AWC has a full-time, permanent position for a Final Trim excavator operator.

This role involves working with GPS machine control and the ideal candidate will have experience in trenching, road works and rock breaking.

The successful applicant will have an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to their work and be a proven team player. Experience in the operation of multiple plant will be an advantage.

This position is based in the Launceston area and some travelling may be required.

ROADWORKS ROLES - Launceston

Positions are available for people with experience in roadworks and plant operations and for those wanting to gain experience in the industry.

These roles are based in the Launceston area and include site administration, traffic management and labourers, with all levels of experience considered. We also have opportunities in operating excavators, rollers, water carts and 10-yard trucks.

MECHANIC

AWC is looking for a qualified mechanic to join its workshop team.

The company operates a wide range of plant and machinery as well as a fleet of light vehicles and trucks.

This is an opportunity for a qualified mechanic to work on maintaining a variety of vehicles and civil construction plant.

The successful applicant will be reliable, a self-starter and capable of working as part of a team.

The position is based at the AWC head office in the northern suburbs of Hobart.

TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS

AWC is seeking experienced traffic controllers to work on projects across the state. Successful applicants will be hardworking and reliable, able to work well in a team and have pride in their work.

Day-to-day activities include setting up and controlling traffic at work sites and completing traffic management records.

Successful applicants have the ability to keep up to date with traffic-management guidelines and standards; familiarity with safety management systems, procedures and risk assessments; the ability to identify hazards and minimise risks. Some travelling will be required.

PLANT OPERATORS AND LABOURERS 

AWC is seeking staff who have experience in roadworks, subdivisions, pipe laying and plant operations for projects across Tasmania.

Experience in excavator, roller, compactor and water cart operations is an advantage. Successful applicants will be hardworking and reliable, able to work well in a team and have pride in their work.

A minimum of three years’ experience in the industry is preferable.

Successful applicants will have an enthusiastic, hands-on approach to their work and the capacity to work well as part of a team.
